Frequently asked questions

Do I need an account to use FixedFloat?

No. There is no sign-up, no login, no email required. Open the app and start using it.

Where is my data stored?

Everything you create — records, notes, budgets, preferences — is stored locally on your device using iOS's standard preferences store. It never leaves your phone, and it is removed automatically by iOS if you delete the app.

How do I back up or export my data?

Go to Settings → Export as CSV. We generate a CSV file with every record and open the iOS share sheet so you can save it to Files, email it to yourself, send it to a teammate, or drop it into a cloud folder of your choice. The export contains the full title, amount, category, note, and timestamp of each record.

How do I edit or delete a record?

Open the Records tab. Tap any row to open the editor, or swipe right-to-left to reveal Delete, or swipe left-to-right for the Edit shortcut. You can also delete a record from inside the editor itself.

How do I set, change, or clear a budget?

Open the Budgets tab. Tap the Global budget card at the top to set a monthly cap across all categories, or tap any individual category row to set a per-category cap.

To clear a limit, open the editor and set the value to 0. The category will go back to "No limit set" and won't trigger over-budget alerts.

How do I reset everything and start fresh?

Go to Settings → Reset all data. This wipes every record and every budget. The action requires confirmation and cannot be undone — make sure to export your data first if you might want it later.

Does the app work offline?

Yes. FixedFloat is fully usable without an internet connection. The only network request the app makes is a small configuration fetch on launch, and the app falls back to its native UI within a few seconds if there's no connectivity.

Why does the icon label look truncated on my home screen?

iOS truncates icon labels longer than ~9 characters in compact contexts (folders, App Library row, App Switcher). Inside the app, the full marketing name "FixedFloat" is always shown — only the small label under the icon may be abbreviated by the system.

I found a bug or want to request a feature.

Please email us with as much detail as you can — what you did, what you expected, what happened, screenshots if possible, and the app version (Settings → Version). Feature requests are warmly welcomed and tracked in the next release cycle.
